No. Santa Claus is at least based on a real person, St.Nicholas, from the 3rd century who used to secretly leave coins in shoes left out for him and maybe presents. He died on 6th December at which date this saint is celebrated in the Netherlands, and is helped by moor(s) called black Pete. He is believe to also admonish naughty children. Eventually the celebration in America moved closer to Christmas and took on a somewhat Christian flavour, spreading to most of the western world.
God, on the other hand is a complete fabrication to compensate for the lack of comprehension of evolution.

Why do so many people think that, regarding God/Evolution, it has to be one or the other? God is omnipotent, omnipresent etc. When he created life, he did not just plonk Adam onto the Earth. That would be far too simplistic for Him. He made the 'soup' of life, then watched and waited.

At least Santa doesn't threaten non-believers with eternal damnation . . . I don't think?
