Come On, Are You Serious?

A pal has hitched up with a new BF while I've been away.
And then she drops the bombshell ... he's a vegetarian!
This is the last of my pals whom I'd have expected to go out with a veggie.
She must've been hanging around up in Kemp Town, or something.
So now ... buy a veggie cook book and have them over for supper? or just go out for dinner.
Maybe easier to go out. There's a veggie restaurant on the corner opposite The Black Lion.

I'm not sure I could cook an aubergine without gagging.
I don't think he's vegan. I didn't go in to detail.
I was too busy trying to cover myself after I'd gone ... "Oh, god, tell me you're kidding ... I mean no, hey, that's great, no no, sorry, I was just looking at something in the paper, so hey, great, we'll have to try some new restaurants ... he'll be able to tell us the tastiest things to order."
I'm not sure I got away with it, really.

"Is Food for Friends still open in the Lanes?"
Wow, Boxy ... !
When I said there's a veggie restaurant on the corner opposite The Black Lion ... that IS Food For Friends! The Black Lion is one of the two pubs straight opposite ... The Cricketers is on the corner, and then The Black Lion is next to it. Tall thin building, that looks really, really old, but in fact it was rebuilt some time.
I can't say that I've been a regular at Food For Friends. Maybe when they diversify a bit, and put steak on the menu.

My sister-in-law and her husband are vegetarians, have been for years. She's only recently realised that, when they go to friends for dinner, said friends serve a veggie meal out of respect for them, but when s-i-l invites same friends over, she serves them a veggie meal. It didn't occur to her that she ought to reciprocate by serving meat etc. to their friends.
Baldric ...
I'm sure veggies don't always run short of vitamins.
As any veggie will tell you, many top athletes are vegetarian. Although, curiously, they always cite the same example ... Carl Lewis ... who autographed copies of The Bible at his press conference after the Games ... which made him a bit of a weirdo. Maybe they need to find a new example.
