Thenry, you're scraping the bottom of the barrel with Walt Disney, supposedly an odious man. Surprised you've not added Henry Ford.
Definitely Brian Cant, and Fred Harris, and Floella Benjamin !
...John, Val, and Pete - The Goodies (I still think they're young enough to make a comeback)...etc etc
Indeed thenry - and they're seppos !
Never heard of Charlotte Green? Philistines!

OK, try Tinkie Winkie, Dipsy, La-La and Po ...
Tom Jones
Cliff Richard
Brian Cant national treasure???? You might as well say Shep.
...oh yes, and Shep !
You've only got one colour zebo !
lol
thenry, 'national treasure' means someone who is alive, but, even alive, Abraham Lincoln would not be one. He is a revered figure now but too controversial in life to be loved by all. Being non-controversial is a key element of being a 'national treasure'. Even Churchill might not qualify; I can't think of any politician, past or present, who would.
Tony Benn, Fred?
A national treasure should be dead surely ? And don't call me Shirley !
Is Boris on the way there?
Question Author
fred is right, it isnt just people you remember and are fond of - brian cant, floella etc although kids loved them, but theyre relatively unknown now so dont qualify
Question Author
the goodies may have been once but not now ... although bill oddie may have been somewhere in the lower levels of a nt...?
Tim Brooke Taylor always annoyed me, so only two Goodies allowed, I'm afraid.
Bill Oddie could be a Grade II listed NT:

Grade I: persons of exceptional interest,
Grade II*: particularly important persons of more than special interest.
Grade II: persons that are of special interest, warranting every effort to preserve them
The whole point about a national treasure my old joko is this - Tutankhamen was one, Bill Oddie isn't ! Get it ?
thenry - just out of interest, do you have Asperger's?
Question Author
yes thenry ... thanks for that...

anyway ...

i think tommy cooper probably was one when he was alive?

maybe morecambe and wise?
