Is Islam a paedophilic religion?

Do Muslim men believe it is acceptable to be having sex with prepubescent girls? I'm asking this based on various news items over the last few months, both in the UK and abroad.

Blimey! I've just clicked on a few of those stories. I can't believe it's been "brought to light" over the past DECADE! Jeez. I honestly have never read/seen any of this stuff before.
I suppose it happens in all religions, though. It's absolutely sick and disgusting, but no different to catholic priests thinking it's acceptable to have sex with prepubescent boys.

Christianity may be waning but it doesn't follow that Islam will 'take over'.
More people, across the world, are becoming rational and rejecting the idea of God or Religion.
There will not be a 'void' that Islam rushes to fill.
There certainly seems to be a correlation between the culture of 'marrying' (and I use the term loosely) child brides and it taking place in the same parts of the globe where the predominant religion supports it.

We shouldn’t assume that all Muslim men think it’s acceptable – they don’t – but having said that I’ve never heard a faithful Muslim condemn it outright. Since Mohammed married a child, and the Koran sets no minimum age of consent – in fact it gives instructions on divorcing pre-pubescent wives – they can’t. Some Islamic nations impose an ‘age of consent’ but it is often ignored, as is the age of consent imposed in UK law. I also think the word ‘prepubescent’ is misleading. A little girl is still a child whether she has begun menstruating or not. The other thing that should be noted is that those Muslims who do see children as sexual partners usually enter into a marriage contract with the child in question, thereby in the eyes of their own society at least, rendering it ‘respectable’.
Flob, //do you not feel that educated areas like parts of europe may start to reject religion but the uneducated and more extreme religions will fill that void?//
I don’t understand what void you’re talking about. It’s highly unlikely that people abandoning religion will become Muslim, so there is no void to fill.
hc, //have seen no reports of Muslims' committing those acts,//
