Nobody would want to support discrimination against disabled children but without more information this petition is a bit meaningless. If the point of this petition is about the closure of the Independent Living fund then it should state that... Or is it about that councillor who resigned recently...or is it just saying 'bad things shouldn't happen ?'
I agree with iggy, as a community in general they are extremely well cared for and protected but there are always going to be problems, what exactly are you talking about here?
I agree with Iggy and Ratter. Not enough information.
I have a severely disabled cousin who I don't think has been discriminated against. She goes to 'work' everyday, she goes on holidays and she is probably the happiest person I'm privileged to know.
Sorry Mummyb2 but I don't see the purpose of this. No government wants people with disabilities and their families to be discriminated against and will say they are committed to non-discrimination. If there are specific issues then that the the petition wishes to address ( e.g. the application of the bedroom tax as it affects those with disabilities, or the closure of the Remploy factories) then the petition should refer to those
I do sympathise with you that your son is disabled, but again, I can't see where the discrimination comes into it, in general.

New buildings have to be disabled friendly and everywhere are special privileges for the those with a disability, certainly more than for very short or tall or stupid people.
I have just read an article which says that this kind of petition is useless as the names of the supporters should be signed not printed and the address should also be given. I have put my name to several in the past but now I wonder if it is pointless. I have never noticed any result with the ones I have taken an interest in, so perhaps the article is right. Any comments before I go ahead and "sign"?
