(bag of chips for those who are not in the 'know')

Inspired by Cazz's dinner thread and Carrust's reply.

What on earth happened to the brown paper and newspaper? It's all blooming polystyrene type stuff which isn't as romantic.

I miss buying a 'poke', anyone else miss anything?

Still get a nice paper cone in Belgium - squirt of mayo on top - blimey my mouth is dribbling ....
A poke o'chips and a fish supper pleeeze. Maybe a white puddin' too
If we get chips 'to eat' they get served in a cone.

I won't eat chips that are wrapped, they go all greasy and soggy.
why a poke?
I've never asked for a poke of chips, only a six o' chips, please.
Our chips are still wrapped in paper, it's an off white type though, not newspaper.
Hate those plastic trays you get chips in. Agree, they take all the romance away.
Newspaper and wooden forks are the best. Bit of nostalgia.

I miss lots of things, but most of all I miss my dead budgie , Ronnie.

Dave, chips and mayo, I'm drooling :-)

Wolf, I'm thinking of sending the young albas to the chippy now!

A six o chips Tilly? Interesting...
do you know a poke in America is a "poke" in the sexual manner
Our local chippy still wraps it in newspaper of you're taking it home. Just the greaseproof paper and brown paper if you just going to eat it. Much better than the cardboard boxes we get at some chippies. I like my chips squished and soggy! Especially with "everyhin broon" :-) Has to be Gold Star broon sauce as well!
Why's it romantic to have chips wrapped in paper?
A poke would do me now alba...!!
Stop it! You're lying! Ronnie IS dead. I saw next doors cat dig him up...
