I can't imagine many butchers would be vegetarians. Why would the way people earn their daily bread have any influence on what they put in their sandwiches?
Where on earth would this information come from and why would anybody need it ?
Extraordinary question !
He might just be interested...

As far as I can tell there's been no major surveys into this so far. Perhaps no-one's thought of a reason to look. What were you hoping to find out?
If there is a profession called "tree hugger" I reckon they might be top of the list...

Otherwise, I did not think that vegetarianism was correlated with professions especially..
why not email the vegetarian society or conduct your own survey if you are *really* interested?

I am a veggie, and daughter and granddaughter of a butcher btw!

now I work in smoking cessation!

Can't find vegetarians. You might be interested to know that the one with most alcoholics is naval pilot!
[naval pilot meaning harbour pilot, not someone flying off aircraft carriers]
Fredpuli, do you mean shipping pilots who work for the royal navy or pilots employed by ABP? I am amazed that they have more alcoholics than eg publicans, although maybe if its a percentage of the total then it might be because there are less of them....also do you mean internationally or just the UK?
I once knew a vegetarian butcher.
I have 2 sisters who are both vegan - they both work in the public sector (Local Authority) and a friend who is veggie and she is a stay at home mum.

I don't understand the exasperation at the question, its how research begins. Suggesting tree hugger should be top of the list shows the level of intellectual darkness that merits such research.
Vegeterrorism should not be tolerated.
Definitely. Thankfully my sisters do not impose.
It seems to me that vegetarianism is an ism that sometimes enthuses but rarely persuades.

Even if we could find out what percentage of, say carpenters or electricians are veggies, exactly what would we have achieved ? It might tell us that trades and jobs that normally attract more women than men, are more likely to have a higher amount of veggies, but we knew that anyway.

Still can't see the point of the question. Much more interesting would be why are so few veggies in Britain, especially after all the recent scandals about such things as horsemeat.
Oh...sorry...forgot to add that Hitler was a veggie.

I think that might explain why he was so irritable all the time. All that stomping up and down and gesticulating. I'm sure that he would have been an altogether calmer person if he had only started the day with a nice bacon sandwich, made with Hovis and some HP sauce.

The link with Hitler's vegginess and the invasion of Poland has yet to be explored fully by historians.
Sevenoaks
oops wrong thread
whilst there are obviously no rules, id say there may be certain jobs that would have more veggies than others - holistic therapy practitioner, perhaps more artistic professions

id also think that there are likely less veggies in jobs such as plumbing, taxi driver and chef
Perhaps the 'green' people might be more into vegetarianism.
What does Hitler being a vegetarian have to do with anything? It's disputed anyway:

I think most vegetarians, make thinks with beads like pretty necklaces and carve bits of driftwood into something unrecognisable to most people and drive Citroen 2cv's with a little sign in the back window saying "NUCLEAR POWER NO THANKS"
