Have been invited to my friends aunties 100th birthday celebration at the nursing home - quite an achievement! Really like to take a gift but what do you get someone of that age, particularly someone I don't really know very well?

I am sure a nice bouquet of flowers would be appreciated.
When my Mum was in a nursing home she (or her Carers!) got through copious amounts of shower gel, body spray etc. Mum liked florentyna by Marks And Spencer, reasonably priced and a nice floral fragrance. Or how about a tin of fancy biscuits she could keep in her room for "special" visitors.
A balloon with 100 on it.
Something smelly and nice. However old and frail she is she'll enjoy a nice perfume.
5 year diary
i agree, flowers, food/chocolate or smellies - consumables or useful really

or perhaps a nice blanket or framed photo - something to make her room more cosy.
Private health insurance because the NHS aren't interested in people that old.
A newspaper from her birthday. ..give you all something to chat about
bottle of champagne
