Philippines at five is a surprise, and Nicaragua at ten slightly less so. The rest at the top are pretty much the usual suspects - Nordic countries, NZ and Ireland. (I suppose it's interesting that Ireland's recent economic problems have not resulted in women taking a hit, which is unusual.) Good to see Switzerland doing well since they allowed women the vote late last century.

Since both genders have the same NHS service I find that difficult to believe. Maybe it comes down to someone's subjective opinion on how much should be spent on, say for example, breast cancer prevention as opposed to prostate cancer prevention ?

I'm not surprised by the top ones. Iceland were the first to have a Parliament and are obviously the most civilised country (I'm half Icelandic. No bias:-)).

it's not just health, OG. Education, childcare, access to politics, many things.
