Any advice on parking please? Off to see Michael Buble in March (!) and travelling from nottingham. Really want to travel by car for convenience but slightly worried about the parking situation.

Given that there's a frequent, direct rail service from Nottingham to Birmingham New Street (and it's only about a mile to walk, or take a taxi, from there) it might be just as convenient to go by train.
However, if you do park at the NIA, it might be worth trying the Leisure Centre car park. It's only 30p dearer than the main car parks (£6.80 instead of £6.50) but it won't be where all of the other MB fans are trying to get into.

The NIA website describes parking there as 'limited'.

The problem with parking at the NIA (if you can get in) or in Brindley Place is that when the traffic leaves the NIA the whole place gets grid locked.
Another option is....
At the Western end of Broad St (not for from NIA) is a roundabout called Five Ways. The road going North off this roundabout is Ladywood Middleway.
On one side of the road is Tescos, and on the other side is a entertainment complex called Broadway Plaza.
Underneath Broadway plaza is a huge car park, well lit and very secure. It is only about half a mile walk along Broad St to the NIA.
The entrance to this car park is opposite Tescos (the other side of the road) and is on the left just as you start to drive up Ladywood Middleway.
If you park there, at the end of the concert you can come out the car park, turn left on Ladywood Middleway and go round the Outer Ring road and back to the motorway.
If you go on Google Maps and have a look at the area you can easily see the NIA, Five Ways, the Broadway Plaza and Broad St that links them.

It is at the bottom of that photo, the wall goes sloping up and the road into the car park goes sloping down.

Close by to the likes of the Sea Life Centre, Brindley Place restaurants and bars, Bannatynes Spa and Broad Street this is a perfect car park location.
I agree with the other reviewers though, avoid this car park like the plague if there are any events going on at the NIA. The car park gets grid locked and a result you can't get out! I actually ended up going for a meal as a result to kill a few hours.

Alas, it has a fundamental flaw. And I say this having once spent 2.5 hours trying to exit it. It was HELL. We left a show at the Crescent Theatre at the exact same time as thousands of people leaving a Peter Kay show at the nearby NIA.
We were parked on the third floor and it took us nearly three hours to make it down to ground level. Car park staff offered no explanation and they didn't offer any compensation as we left.
Essentially, we paid £8.60 to sit in a traffic jam - though I did nip out of the car to buy Ribena and a Ginsters. It was a horrid experience (Ribena and pasty aside). As a result, I now hate this car park, Peter Kay and people who pay to go and see Peter Kay.
Park there by all means (it is a nice car park), just make sure you time your exit not to clash with kicking out time at the NIA
