I once gave a bloke a tenner in London because he'd lost his wallet at Victoria. I 99% knew he was a scammer but on the off chance he wasn't I gave him his ride home money.
Yes ..my first husband promised to love cherish be true etc ! Does that count ? Wee scumbag he turned out to be....drop dead gorgeous but scumbag nevertheless !
Yes, paid a stupid amount of money to join a dating agency years ago, all I received was one letter in three years and that person didn't seem to exist when I phoned. Not sure that there was anything illegal going on, but a con non the less!
Taking my supermarket trolley back this lady said I will take it for you and she gave me a pound coin . The pound coin was fake I realised later . Wonder now many more people she scammed . I used a token now .
I too have given money to people who I thought might be scammers, but I don't feel that I was conned...I knew the odds and gave the money (a few pounds) knowingly. To my knowledge I have never been scammed or conned.
No, but then I look carefully at any deal I do.
I only deal with people I want to deal with, and in places I am happy to do business, doorstep is a no-no as would be dealing with a cold-caller.
