Okay.
Probably. If it ended world poverty.
i suppose it would depend on the drop in standard.

I worked hard for my standard of living, having just retired early at end of June, there is no way I'm giving anything up willingly!
So did I, Baldric but if it meant one less glass of wine per week, then that's ok.

I don't drink that many Glasses of Wine in a week.
how much of a drop and how would it end world poverty? Would I get my money back if it didn't work?
Yes, define 'decrease'.
I don't think poverty is connected to our standard of living.
If they shared the wealth in the poverty stricken countries and stopped sending rockets to mars, etc. I'll take another look at it.
I agree with Svejk
I thought this was an idealistic concept rather than one related to the actions of a particular country/ countries. If I could do something concrete to help the world's poor, I would. Obviously, I alone, cannot.

Have another glass of wine then Tilly ;-)
I might just do that, Baldric. Cheers!

I've just poured my 2nd one tonight so, Cheers!
Idealism - dangerous
Do I have to give up the Caviar and truffle dressed salads with my glass of Petrus??
It isn't going to happen, so why are we discussing it?

Because a relative Newbie suggested we should for some reason!
I would like to think I would.
My standard of living is already pretty low so I'm sure a small drop wouldn't make much difference.
What difference does it make how long you have been a member of the site?
I think it's a good question.
