JNO...according to Wiki there is some doubt about what she actually said, and even if she said it all apparently ! You are right about the gumption.
Yes I agree with Sqad here...much more attractive. A famous Private Eye cartoon of the time has her saying ::::"Do you mind? If it wasn't for me – you couldn't have cared less about Rachman" Rachman was a truly evil character and if Mandy was partly responsible for his downfall, then she should be congratulated on that alone.

I met her in the 60s. She did some modelling work for my cousin, a photographer. She gave me a green cord velvet cap. I know it sounds vile, but in the 60s it was quite fashionable. I have a pic of myself wearing it. I've still got it somewhere in a box in a cupboard. She was actually very nice to me. I was only very young at the time. She was much better looking and much prettier than u-no-hoo. RIP girl !
// and I don't think there was one single way of saying that before. //
he would say that wouldnt he ?
My fathers comment when it got into the dictionary of quotations,
was o my god we have got down to that have we ?
I have to say even at 12 I was quite surprised that she was credited with being the originator
A tart with a heart.... Cliveden used to be a hotel ( as Macmillan would say: always was dear fellow) and you could go and cavort in the very swimming pool Mandy and Christine were first seen by Profumo.
Profumo ? one of his chat up lines at dindins was to say to a teenage gurl:
'have you been to bed with a seventy year old ? my dear you should try it...'
a time of tarts and old goats

/// I reckon I saw her, jogging along the Pembrokeshire coast path, only a year or two ago. I have enough trouble keeping my footing and balance even at walking speed (when it's muddy). A bad way to go but at least it wasn't a fall. ///

All ruddy marvellous comments guys...keep them coming !
PP...I remember that old Max Miller gag a little differently :::
"I met this woman on a narrow mountain path. There was no room to pass. I didn't know whether to block her passage or toss myself off."
Definitely from his Blue Book I would have thought !
My Dad saw Max a few times in the 50's. He always said that he was quite the funniest comedian that every lived. According to Dad, when Max's name went up on the posters, you couldn't get a seat for love nor money, if you weren't quick enough. By the way, I have just posted a new joke under "Jokes" if anyone is interested !
Thanks Baldric...I will try and find a copy somewhere !
