I received loads of Xmas cards in the post where the stamp on the envelope hadn't been franked. I now have a foolproof method of removing the stamps intact.
Put some water in a saucer and add ONE drop of washing up liquid. Swoosh it around with your finger until dissolved.
Tear the stamp off the envelope leaving a half inch margin of envelope paper still attached. Float it on the water with the stamp facing up.After approx. 30 minutes, the stamp will peel off with ease. Dry it out on a piece of kitchen roll with the stamp facing down. Hey presto!
I will now sit back and wait to be attacked by someone for diddling Royal Mail out of revenue.
Mrs O I have been doing this for years but with just warm water, but lately the stamps have been thinner & tear and I have not been so successful. I have noticed this xmas that half the stamps on xmas cards sent to me have not been franked.
OP why, in that case make reference to 'diddly the Royal Mail' out of Revenue? And if the stamps were for your 'collection' why make reference to the fact they were not franked?. If you were a keen philatelist you would be quite aware that franked stamps have much more value than unfranked ones.
Retrochic, that comment was written because I knew someone like you would come along and have something to say.
What I have in my stamp collection is of my concern.
I repeat, I am NOT suggesting that anyone should do anything illegal
oh 'someone like me' - that would be someone that buys their own stamps then.... come off it -if I'd posted something like this the usual suspects would be outa the woodwork in a flash tut tutting. What ho! I can hear the back peddling from here....and the 'outrage'...and wait for it.....
