Especially at Westminster Abbey, when in Saudi Arabia Christianity is banned and possessing a Bible is illegal, to say nothing of the countries abysmal human rights record.

No!
Am I allowed to comment as your source is the Daily Mail online?
No. According to Wiki, when a foreign dignitary dies, upon the command of the sovereign flags may be flown at half mast on government buildings. Flying a flag at half mast at Westminster Abbey is unctuous.
I don't see why heads of state shouldn't acknowledge the passing of others. I'm not sure why Westminster Abbey is in on the act, though.
They own it, jno.
the abbey's responsible to the crown but I don't know that they actually have to take orders from it (I could be wrong).
Because it is the protocol and tradition on the passing of a head of State, especially one who has been an ally against ISIS and the Taliban.

I would have thought that tradition meant something to the UKIP/EDL front.
I meant the Saudis owned it and all the other buildings with half-mast flags. (sort of a joke,,,,,or is it?)
The Deans of Westminster and St George's Chapel report directly to Her Nibs and not the Archbish of Cantab.
No!

Oil influences everything.
To say nothing of the country funding The worlds Islamic terrorists.

And we are promised more of the same, god help us.

Looking forward to the day when the oul runs out, and this backward little country can disappear again.

I don't think that you will be around to see that, gromit - they have plenty of reserves.
// especially one who has been an ally against ISIS and the Taliban. //

Pmsl.
NOOOOOOO !!
Suggest you get a history/politics lesson on the factions of Islam and the origins/motives of the Wahibis versus the Shiites as well, and then you may understand that statement.
Guardian 2010

// "More needs to be done since Saudi Arabia remains a critical financial support base for al-Qaida, the Taliban, LeT and other terrorist groups," says a secret December 2009 paper signed by the US secretary of state. Her memo urged US diplomats to redouble their efforts to stop Gulf money reaching extremists in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"Donors in Saudi Arabia constitute the most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide," she said. //
Good riddance to the despicable man
and that is what King Abdullah had been closing off, that spigot of privately funded donations, also the pressure very much on Qatar now and why we continue to de facto, support a World Cup there, who knows....The UK also had similar problems internally and with the US over the IRA, so it's not a unique issue.
wrong thread surely, sir prize, don't you mean the Leon Britten one......
DTW, the wikileak was before IS / ISIS /ISIL but it is Saudi money and DSudi ideology that drives them today.

You seem in denial that the Saudis are the funders of the worlds Islamic terrorists. But they are. They tell the world one thing, but they do the opposite.

It was no coincidence that 15 of the terrorists who took part in 9/11 were Saudis. They export terror as well as oil.
