What Are Your Priorities In Life?
27 Answers
My wife and I now try to make sure we enjoy every day to the full, it is our number one priority. We are now in our fifties, we still work but the kids have left home now I feel it is our turn as we have done our bit. We like to go out every weekend, or go away for the weekend and let our hair down and have some fun. We have seen too many of our age group keeling over for one reason or another and have decided that life is too short to worry about trivial matters. Some say we may be irresponsible but what does it matter as long as you're not hurting anyone else? You never know what's around the corner. We see so many our age just drifting into old age concentrating on things that don't really matter. The reason I mention it is something someone said to my wife the other day "wouldn't you be better spending money on your garden than going out all the time?" I thought why dont you just go get a life, the cheek of it! What do others think? By the way the garden is ok, just a bit tired!

There will come a time when maybe you won't or can't be far from home, then you can sort out your home and garden. I employed a gardener to keep my gardens in trim while we enjoyed our trips away. It keeps you young and healthy being out and about instead of staying at home.
I think the question in the title is a little different than what is being asked in the post. In the post you look for approval of you lifestyle choice. Fine, you live as you wish, and however your mental state allows you to, as long as it is moral, and that seems to be so. Some can not let go of what others consider trivial, and some do have other preferred ways to live.
For sure it isn't wrong to suggest things, although I see an apparent criticism of where you put your money / effort may not go down well. I think you are getting hung up on one of those trivial things you believe you don't worry about.
As for my priorities, well to find happiness and purpose and a reason to even be, I guess. To try to stay healthy as I age further. To do my best to minimise the stress everything and I do mean it seems to be everything puts my way. It'd be lovely not to feel to be under fire from general life/existence almost all the time. And that means I need to prioritise finances and income too as that could prove stressful. Finding a lifestyle that is actually pleasant would be nice. I'm unsure that's possible but those seem, off the top of my head, to be priorities for me.

That's the right attitude Dave. My wife & I both worked until retirement & then decided to live a little & so we had as many holidays abroad as we could afford. We both agreed that work had seriously interfered with our way of life so we went & enjoyed ourselves. I am so glad that we did my wife sadly passed away in 2008 but because I had taken many photographic slides which are now on my computer I have many memories of good times. Enjoy life whilst you can.
