Christmas terms haven't changed. Other religions have not stolen our xmas...it's a myth! Seriously....xmas starts in October...what have we changed?
The golly...not sure about that but it's no great loss. How is the fact that we don't have a gollywog on our jam jars affecting our life presently?
I agree that if you don't like this country then go off and find a country you do like.

I don't recognise the specific examples as being true. And wouldn't be Muslim related anyway. It detracts from your other point of a new arrival to this country opting to accept & adopt the practices of the nation othey choose to join, and where a line might be drawn regarding retaining previous cultural practices that are felt part of the immigrant's life.
It's all very well for you, ummmm, as a savvy western woman to dismiss Sharia courts. If, say, you didn't like whatever your 'family' decided, you'd be around to the solicitors or the cop shop like a shot.(or more likely, just stick two fingers up at them) I doubt many Muslim women have, or feel they have, your options. And, of course, sharia law is horribly biased against women.
Well I for one am glad the 'golly' has gone from jam. It was a horrible caricature of a bygone era. Blackboards are still around -for goodness sake black is not a racist word any more its what Black people prefer to be called. People should be allowed to follow their Religious beliefs in what ever country they decide to live in, you cannot judge a whole religion on radical loonies -if you did the Catholic and Protestant Religions would be in deep trouble. If I went to live in Dubai i would not convert to Islam, and if I was Christian I would search out a christian church i Dubai to worship in and maybe have christian friends and go to social events related to the church. Can't see any difference really.
Blackboards and gollies going had nothing to do with Muslims - it was the PC brigade who said that the term black was offensive and racist. There was a time when anything suggestively racist or sexist was disapproved if - and why manhole covers are now called inspection covers... i personally saw nothinh wrong with a golly toy, i had a black dolly too, my mother felt this represented the real world rather than white-only dollies.
