What happened to your files ?
All of your files were protected by a strong encryption with RSA-2048 using CryptoWall 3.0.

What does this mean ?
This means that the structure and data within your files have been irrevocably changed, you will not be able to work with them, read them or see them,
it is the same thing as losing them forever, but with our help, you can restore them.


How did this happen ?
Especially for you, on our server was generated the secret key pair RSA-2048 - public and private.
All your files were encrypted with the public key, which has been transferred to your computer via the Internet.
Decrypting of your files is only possible with the help of the private key and decrypt program, which is on our secret server.


What do I do ?
Alas, if you do not take the necessary measures for the specified time then the conditions for obtaining the private key will be changed.
If you really value your data, then we suggest you do not waste valuable time searching for other solutions because they do not exist.

This is "ransomware" & it's a serious pain in the derriere. The following is from the Malwarebytes Forum -

They claim -

"Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware removes Cryptowall completely.

But it can not decrypt your files. You will need backups to replace the encrypted files."

Take care when installing to untick the box that offers a free trial of the premium version of Malwarebytes.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to hang on here for more expert assistance I'm afraid!

Thanks, I've got Malware, and am scanning now. Interesting to see what it comes up with. I think I have most of my files safe on my old pc, which might be a life-saver.

You've got big problems. If you have copies on an additional HDD connected to the pc, then I'd disconnect the drive until you have removed Cryptowall.

I've just run malware and it says there are no problems!
Now what?
Not much point in restoring my files if it all goes pear-shaped again.

When I got hit (by a different ransomware mob) I couldn't even access a browser, so I had to reset the PC to factory conditions which wiped everything completely.

I then played "catch-up" with all the Windows Updates, reinstalled everything I was using & copied all my files over from an external backup.

It took hours to get it done but - fingers crossed - I've been ok since.

I wouldn't plug in an external drive before you get rid of Cryptowall - it can add itself to any drives (HDDs, USB sticks etc) mapped on your PC & then you'll be in a world of even greater pain!
