If I Was To Say That I Didn't Find Black Girls Attractive, Am I Racist?
41 Answers
A young lad in our office at work said this then there was the usual discussion about racism. I wondered what others thought. If it was a just a personal preference for sexual attractiveness like for example saying you don't find thin girls or overweight girls attractive then surely it's ok to say it.

jno - //if you don't find a group of people attractive on the basis of their skin colour, yes, that's racist. On the basis of their weight, no, that's not. //
I can't agree.
Racism depends on a conscious opinion - you take a position based on a prejudice, which you can decide to embrace, or not.
Attraction is subconscious - you cannot decide that will or will not find someone attractive, you do or you don't, but it's not something you can control.
Therefore it is not racist to not find anyone of any colour unattractive, because attraction is not something we control - racial prejudice is.
