Locker Space Above A Reserved Confirmed Seat
Am I wrong in thinking that the locker space immediately over
my reserved seat should be protected?
Recently I have noticed that some boarders with seats at the rear
of the plane place their hand luggage in the first free space and then
calmly walk to their seats at the back.
If I find that my 'reserved' locker space has been commandeered would
a complaint to the cabin staff get anywhere?

Pick a 'back' seat and you are likely to be boarded among the first and get a good chance to put your hand luggage wherever you want. Pick a 'front' seat and you will be one of the first off, handy in getting through passport control, and if you only have carry-on luggage, straight out the door to the taxi rank, but you may find there is no overhead space left, and end up having to put your case in the hold. Swings and roundabouts, but definitely no entitlement.

Not that I've been abroad much the last few decades but whilst I agree locker space is first come first served, this is the first I have heard of anyone having the cheek to be so selfish and inconsiderate as to deliberately leave their luggage far away from where they are. Serve them right to find it had been riffled through and mostly nicked when they got back to it.
Maybe there should be a rule about having to have it in the same section of the plane as oneself (not that it'd be easy to fully monitor that). Or maybe anyone found being that antisocial should be taken off at the end of the flight for a compulsory half hour lecture on how to behave in public.

I would agree with other posters on this Mampara - reservation of a seat does not equate with reservation of local locker space.
Personally, I take out of my hand luggage what I am going to need before I stow it, and I don't need to touch it again until I disembark, so its location is not an issue.
If I was going to need things throughout the journey, I would put my hand luggage under the seat in front of me - a facility offered for just such a situation.
