Why Vote Tory?

Not looking for a fight or any name calling, I just really would like to know...

I have never understood why working class/lower middle class people vote Tory when the Labour party better represent their interests. I know that the Labour Party is not perfect and I understand many of the reasons that people choose not to vote for them... but why vote Tory?

So I would love to hear from Tory voters what it is about the Tory party that earns them their vote.

Thanks
Andrew

"Since the beginning of time a quality education's generally also been the preserve of the wealthy..."

Not when I was at school it wasn't, Jim, as I explained earlier. And my school probably provided just about the highest quality education that could be obtained without paying (and in many respects better than some fee-paying schools of the time provided).

The grammar school conundrum is always attacked with the "not everybody can have it, so nobody can" argument. It then somewhat illogically descends into attacking grammar schools for being so good by comparing them to other schools which are so bad.

No, not everybody can have a grammar school education. Agreed, some of the alternatives are a bit dire. But because they are is no reason whatsoever to scrap grammar schools.
Comforting to know too that you still do your best to support the brewing industry, NJ.
I'm not sure that this invalidates what I was saying though, NJ, which was pretty much universally true for a couple of thousand years or so.

And as I say, I'm not interested in attacking Grammar schools out of any fit of jealousy or whatever.
Indeed garaman.

I invested my annual "beer money" wisely and I still support the Worshipful Company by purchasing as much of their products as possible. :-)
Curious that Andrew objects to grammar schools for bright children from poor backgrounds but doesn’t have a problem with hypocritical Labour politicians paying to send their children to better schools.
we vote tory out of love for TGL herself
Me too, TTT.
In any case, it is their moral duty https://mobile.twitter.com/Tory__Jesus

Thanks OG, usual drivel.
andrew, as you have probably gathered by now AB is possibly the most 'pro Tory' web site on the net !
Non 'Tory' views are few and those of us who subscribe to a socialist stance are given very opportunity to get a word in!

///are given very opportunity to get a word in/// . . . ???
He means every Balders.
sorry, in a hurry as the door was being knocked.
'very little opportunity to get a word in'

Yawnnnnnn!

It is being called a breath of fresh air. :))

It's all written down in the Bible. Six days shalt thou Labour but on the seventh thou shalt be Tory. (Book of Exodus)
Eddie, you have as much opportunity as anyone else to get a word in here but sadly your words are, in the main, unconvincing.

Why are Grammar schools better than normal schools?

We don't have any of these Grammar Schools. Are we missing out on something?

Grammar schools only took the brightest kids so they could have a curriculum better suited to the brightest kids. As mentioned before, that shouldn't be misinterpreted as ignoring those who weren't so bright as they also had a curriculum which suited them.

I was listening to Liz Lochhead on Desert Island Discs last night and she mentioned how she benefited from a golden age of education. That is what makes me sad, we shouldn't be leaving it in a worse state than we found it.
