I know, I know, it's a filthy habit and I'm not giving up on giving up the habit.

I don't smoke when walking along the road or waiting for a bus, in fact, I don't go out with my smokes.

I hate walking behind or waiting behind someone who is smoking.

Do you smoke when you're walking or waiting? Just nosy :-D

Hi, I gave up last October but would never have walked down the street with a ciggie in my hand or stood outside the office building as it looked terribly common.
Question Author
Agree with you about the standing outside place of work lol

Well done on stopping x
Thanks Alba but not a day goes by when I would love to smoke again!
I gave up because of my op but its a battle not to start again.
Question Author
Sorry to hear you had an op, do hope you're well on the road to recovery if not already recovered.

Don't succumb !!
I only smoke after you know what....Aaah those were the days, lol!
Question Author
LOL Cupes, the good old days eh? ;-)
Would that be Pie and chips Cupid ;-)

I never smoke when walking about and don't like smoking in the city center.
I have never smoked walking anywhere, my mother said it was common and that has stuck. I don't catch buses but wouldn't dream of smoking at a bus stop either.
...Only cos they won't let you smoke in pubs!
i smoke indoors and out, if i fancy a smoke i have one, obviously not in pubs anymore, but if im walking and i want one, i have one..as for common looking it does not bother me, as non smokers think it's gross already, so if i look common..so what
Question Author
don't like seeing women drivers smoking at the wheel either.
Now, I know that's sexist and apologise if it offends, but I just don't like it. It doesn't 'look right' somehow.

Mr Alba will smoke from house to train station, then from destination to place of work. Can't smoke on the building site but he says he needs his nicotine levels up before starting lol
I gave up years ago but your post reminded me of a time when loads of us smoked and I was driving and smoking, flicked the ash out the window but unbeknown to me, the lit end had come off and the wind took it into the back of the car and it landed on my toddler's car seat, just burning her enough to make her start to cry before I slammed the brakes on and sorted it. Mortified mother. She still mentions it and she's 46 now!!
Question Author
lol HL, she'll never let you forget it.
Aren't our little darlings good at reminding us of what we put them through? :-D
Oh yes-she also doesn't let me forget the time smoke started coming from the car engine (not from my ciggie this time!) and I leapt out and got the dog out the back and left her to sort herself out.
Question Author
just remind her that if you hadn't put her through that, she wouldn't have grown into a strong, independant, intelligent woman lol
I smoke, but I only smoke in my garden, but not if the grandkids are about.
This is one of my pet hates. It definitely killed my husband - he was warned by the heart specialist that he was on the slippery slope and he was given 10 years. He thought he knew better and sadly died - 10 years after the warning after having had an aortic aneurism and a stroke. I gave up in 1966 after smoking about 60 a day. They were so cheap and we got them from the NAAFI in boxes of 50 - no filters. He said he would stop if I stopped, but he never did. My grand daughter smokes roll-ups - she is 18. She won't listen to any of the family.
Please keep on giving up alba. I did it and you can too. I never ever smoked in the street it was thought so dreadfully common and does look dreadful if a lady does it.
Sorry, I've gone on a bit!
Is it true that you can now only buy hand-rolling tobacco in 30 gram pouches, that cost about £10?
I can't abide seeing women smoking in the street, but what is worse is if the are pushing a pram or buggie.
Also I hate to see someone in a wheelchair or mobility scooter smoking.
goodgoalie, Yes and that is the cheapest, they've also stopped selling packs of ten 'proper cigarettes but I have no idea on a pack of twenty these days.
