... other people's, of yourself. I find lately when shopping & arriving at the till, I get, hiya lovee or ... alright dear, I assume it's my grey hair? I find myself saying in my head, hey, I've just cleaned the equivalent of a small cinema area. So perceptions, whether that's hair, the way you dress, tattoos, what's your experiences positive or negative of what people make of you just on appearance? Also, do you ever use other people's perceptions of you to your own advantage?

I did chuckle and shared a story with her about my brother's wake.

Sandy, now I'd be tempted to talk back at the same volume. The giving up seats for you bit, I fully take advantage of.

Black comedy or dark comedy is a comic style that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered taboo
Thanks all.
Perception on appearance is hard to answer as I'm quite high-maintenance and focussed on make-up, clothes etc. I've always been considered stuck-up and stand-offish mainly due to looks and speaking voice. I've over compensated for that by being friendly, especially to other women. Strangers are usually very nice to me.

I can understand how people might see shyness the wrong way ummmm.
Alba, that card would have cracked me up!
Aelmpvw, maybe the weight loss has made me look gaunt and old.

Prudie, how telling of first assumptions, the fact you feel the need to compensate for that.
oh, Prudie, I get that too, well, the voice that is.
'what sort of accent is that?'
'Are you from Canada?'

I think I'm just a well-spoken individual who can also cuss and swear like a trooper when I feel the need

Eleena - I think what makes it harder for me when it comes to neighbours is the fact I'm clumsy and have dodgy eyesight...so when I walk down the street I tend to look at the floor to avoid any trip hazards and I think people see that as though I'm avoiding eye contact.

Dry sense of humour is something I like.
ssshhhh!!
and there went another secret!

Had a cracker once, phoned a company (in my capacity as get them to pay) who owed my company some dosh, stoopid coo didn't press the correct button on the phone and I heard every single word she said.
Oh, the joy of repeating it verbatim to the owner of the company.
i'm a big bloke with a face like a wrinkled walnut so strangers tend to be wary of me, unaware that i'm a big friendly teddybear
ummm, I walk along the road/pavement like that too.
Looking for any potential hazards.

I can understand that, I have a fear of falling on uneven pavement and knocking my front teeth in, could well be it's taken the wrong way, hadn't considered that before.
