Most statistics keep these 2 areas separate, but geographically they are one.

Greater London:
Population = 8,788,000
Area = 1,572 sq km

South East:
Population = 8,635,000
Area = 19,095 sq km

Adding the two:
Population = 17,423,000
Area = 20,667 sq km

Dividing:
17423000 / 20667 = 843.0 (to 1 d.p) people per sq km
Geographically the whole world is one.
One can see why they are seperated, they are so very different. One wonders what the use of the combined figure might be.
