That depends on what the subject is. I would listen to a decent plumber's advice on plumbing but I don't let anybody advise me on how to live my life.

My own is good enough, never let me down.
Confucius says //The green reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the mighty oak which breaks in a storm//

So it’s no good being a stubborn know it all and it’s good to listen to others.
That depends on what the subject is. I would listen to a decent plumber's advice on plumbing but I don't let anybody advise me on how to live my life.
I'm usually the one the family come to for advice, but should I need any myself I will happily listen to the thoughts of others.
I do listen to other peoples advice when asked for it, Mostly I trust oneself and my insticts, but the question is a bit ambiguous and does depend on the situation.
If I need advice, I ask someone I can trust and listen to them. When others ask me for advice, I am happy to give it.
I'm lucky that most of the people in my life don't offer advice unless it's asked for.
If the advice is non-personal, I'll listen to any and all I can get.

If it's personal, advice is not available, because I don't tend to talk to anyone about that area of my life.
A couple of trusted friends for opinions but in the end the decision is mine. However I prefer to go to experts for anything outside my skill set
Advice is just advice; ultimately whatever decision you make is your own. So if another has convinced you, it becomes your own.
Some years ago, i read 2 autobiographies. The subjects were Brian Clough and Chris Waddle. Cloughie took on all the good points of the managers he played under while it appeared that Waddle spent much of his career telling his managers how the game should be played. Guess who became the more successful manager of the 2.
When did Chris Waddle go into management? Who's the better Pundit?
I will ask for advice, I like to know what others think. We all have our own thoughts before we seek advice and I think IMO...for me, I evaluate what I've been told and go with what I feel comfortable with... Sitting on the fence? Maybe but always nice to know what others think and maybe give you their experience on.
Chris Waddle was the player/manager of the Mighty Clarets, Arky, way back in '97. We narrowly avoided relegation because he couldn't get it into his thick skull that 'jobbing' footballers of the lower divisions couldn't play as well as their PL counterparts.
Ahh I didn't know that Ken, not having read either biog, I thought you were making comparisons to two completely different jobs, sorry mate.
Think he went into non-league obscurity as a player after leaving us before becoming a pundit only Geordies can understand :-)

Minky does like her infantile little digs. For the record I am neither stubborn nor a know it all. What I am is a Guy with a wealth of life experience and a lot of common sense, works for me ;o)
Confucius's cousin said, "Wouldn't you think that lazy sod would get off his contemplatory ass and do some work around here?"
Nameless - I am interested. What prompted you to ask this question?
It is not apparently the basis of a debate, and whatever answers you get, I fail to see how you would become more enlightened as a result.
An interesting and speculative thread could be, "Why does Nameless ask these questions from a cul de sac?"
Just curious.
Mr Pot, may I introduce Mr Kettle ...
