We had quite a few, GMum.....one was that MrG and littleG would curl up on the sofa as I read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas sitting in a chair in the corner with a tall bendy lamp low over my shoulder as the only dim light in the room......I'm a tad theatrical.....
One year I thought I was reading really well by the wide eyed looks on their faces......until they leapt up and I realised that the lamp was too close to the back of the chair and it was burning and smoking over my shoulder.....
I had to sit on a stool from then on.... :-(

I think they humour us for quite a while, Horselady.... :-)
I have a friend who loved if there was snow on Christmas Eve so she could make her husband put on wellies to make footprints in the snow and use the clothes prop to make the marks of Santa's sleigh.....he drew the line at going up on the roof to do it....x
