News item. Now we have baby banks. Food, nappies cots and toys.
Disgraceful.

I wish we could have retrospective prosecutions for the bankers and the other elites responsible for the 2008 crash, including the so called regulators who failed us all.

These Tories are shameless.

So (Sir as was), Fred, "The Shred," Godwin was innocent?
The crash of 10 years ago is responsible for people not being able to feed or clothe their babies now!

Wow.

That is one of the biggest leaps of logic I've seen in a long while.
"Perhaps Theland would like to explain how we the taxpayers can support all these children being born to people who cannot afford them."

Yeah, it's not like they're sneaking in in lorries or scaling the White Cliffs with a tale to tell and a new life expectation.
On the house of course.
I've said this before on here; Austerity never existed. It was an invention by the Tories to increase taxes, cut services and reduce state benefits. Because you are all loaded. The govt looks closely at your lifestyle and sees money in abundance. And it wants lots of it.

Leaps of logic? 2008, crash, then deficit, then austerity, then cuts cuts cuts. And the weakest take the brunt.
Homeless up. Kids in school hungry and ill clothed.
High rents, cuts to all council funding, so cuts then to essential local services.
And the crash has nothing to do with it?
Well every newspaper, politician, news channel and council, police nhs etc must all have it wrong. Be sure to tell them eh?
“The 2008 crash is relevant as it plunged the country into a debt we are still paying, and the burden falls mainly on the weakest in our society.”

No it doesn’t. The burden of repayment falls mainly upon those paying taxes. Those not paying any are not contributing to the repayments.

“People lose jobs, manage only part time or zero hours jobs.”

So they do. And other people never have jobs or any intention of securing one.

“Relationships break up, unplanned pregnancies, and sudden health issues all contribute.”

And some pregnancies occur with no relationship whatsoever in place, leading to instant – and very often deliberate – single parenthood.

If people today are struggling because the “government” (i.e. the taxpayer) will not provide them with enough money to support the number of children they feel the need to knock out then they need to re-assess their circumstances and reduce their expectations.
The discussion on here goes some way toward explaining the root of the UK's woes: They are always someone else's fault and it's up to "the Government" to solve everything. "We demand a solution".
Some weeks ago the government were announcing the end of austerity.
I'll believe that, when the unemployed aren't been sanctioned to hunger for turning up 5 minutes late to an appointment. Or when people who lose their low paid jobs are required to wait 5 weeks for £72 pound to exist and have to ask for a handout of baked beans...
Yes, we all know people who work the system but the majority do not.
And NJ is rather heartless and lacking in understanding of human nature, I think.
i think he understands human nature all too well ...
Perhaps just heartless, then.
//I'll believe that, when the unemployed aren't been sanctioned to hunger for turning up 5 minutes late to an appointment. //

Why shouldn’t they be penalised for failing to turn up on time? They’ve got all the time in the world to get there and if they cared enough they would make damned sure they are there. As Karl says it’s always someone else’s fault.

It's sad how a few who don't take their responsibilities seriously, are used as an excuse to lambast the vast majority of unfortunates who cannot help their circumstances, and are at the mercy of the system, and don't even get sympathy as is demonstrated on here.
Yes, very sad indeed.
How do you know it’s a few? In my experience those ripping off the system are the majority not the minority
Theland, many can help their circumstances - but won't. Why shouldn’t they be penalised for failing to turn up to appointments on time – and why blame 2008 for any hardship people now, who are having children they can’t afford, are experiencing? If they can’t afford to have kids they shouldn’t have them – and if they do have them they should take responsibility for them. The rest of us do – and just think what would happen if we didn’t.

“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

Only fools and horses …..

Rockrose, " In my experience . . . . . "
What experience would that be, that produces a view diametrically opposed to the United Nations, the churches, every major charity, and the vast majority of the media etc etc.
That must have been one hell of an experience.
My experience Theland is as an investigator into tax credit and child benefit fraud for 10 years!! Happy?
Question Author
Rock rose - Yes very happy. You have lots of experience of catching those who tried to fiddle the system.
That is not every benefit claimant.
The percentage of criminals, for that is what they are must be miniscule. No need to batter everybody.
It in my experience
