Does anyone agree that setting the drama in a top restaurant in modern times just didn't work? I loved the actors' performances, but the number of killings seemed so unrealistic in a modern setting and left me unmoved. The heirarchical conflict in a modern crime family might have worked, but too many of these updated versions ignore obvious changes in society, like the efficiency of modern police forces in dealing with murder cases. Any views, or were you all watching, 'Walk Away And I Stumble'? Was that any good? I feel I wasted my evening.

I enjoyed it. It doesn't translate exactly to that setting in the modern day but it wasn't supposed to - it's just a different interpretation of the play. The same themes of jealousy, ambition, guilt etc still apply.
You're supposed to suspend your disbelief a bit. In reality the police might have solved the crime quicker, and also in reality you wouldn't get 3 weird binmen predicting the future for you. Having said that I preferred the first one , much ado.

I have to say that I didn't rate it that much. It seemed to rely heavily on the viewer having read the original text, there were lots of subtlties that if you hadn't read it then you might not have got it. The week before I think was much easier to enjoy - Shakespeare fan or not.

I ended up switching over to Walk Away and I Stumble I'm afraid. Still, looking forward to next week though...
