Should The Royals Become ‘ Woke? ‘
23 Answers
At the recent BAFTA awards ceremony, Prince William spoke of the need for ‘diversity’ - something that was noted to have been lacking in the nominations. The question is, should the Royals take a leaf out of the Queen’s book and remain neutral, or should they, in effect, take sides by involving themselves in the issues of the day thereby exposing themselves to potential criticism? Personally, I think the Queen has the right idea. Her 'Never complain, never explain' philosophy has stood her in good stead for almost 70 years - and she remains hugely respected.

The comment from the love child of Stanley Unwin at 08.43 has got to get a mention in dispatches for world class irony. :-)

They should be neutral. That is part of the appeal of the monarchy.
But the younger ones are different to the old guard so in time they will start to be openly political.
Even lamenting a lack of diversity is political as it is well up on the list of the PC list.
The young will change with the times. Whether that will improve the monarchy or destroy it only time will tell.

If William wants to be woke, there is plenty to be woke about, the wokeness of privelege for example.
On the point he raised, he is sadly joining the ranks of the diversity Worriors.
If a movie is good, people will go to see it regardless of the skin colour of the actors.
Surely awards should be won on merit?
Now boards of directors are also being required to have black directors, again, using skin colour in place of merit.
The police have done this, also the BBC, and of course the Labour Party is notorious for just about every type of diversity going, ethnicity, gender, and soon I expect sexuality quotas as well.
It's crazy.
