I think that eventually the Covid 19 pandemic will be over. But the aftermath will leave us entirely trsnsformed as a society.
Maybe, just maybe, the masses will begin to realise what is, and what is not important.
Selfies, fashion, consumption etc.
Maybe, with some hope, a new realism, a new humanity will emerge, to cope with the new emerging world, of financial crashes, financial insecurity, and a sudden realisation that what has hitherto been reliable is nothing more than a house built on sand.
Mankind is always desperate for a quick fix, and the banks and corporations are always desperate to squeeze the last penny out of the last man standing.
So, something to think about, unless you have faith in the stupidity of humanity.
Well, I'm an optimist not a pessimist. Schools will reopen and probably the children will actually enjoy going, for a few weeks anyway. People will celebrate their newly found freedom by flocking to pubs and restaurants. Holidays abroad might be a problem but that means people will stay at home and hotels will reopen. Short term there might be problems but problems are there to be solved not given in to.
Winston Churchill was considered alarmist in the 1930's when he wante Britain to rearm.
He was surrounded by people who had their head in the sand.
History repeats itself.
Churchill was no alarmist. He had a mole in the F.O. who informed him of Germany’s illegal military expansion plans. The government had their heads in the sand and Churchill eventually managed to get them to smell the coffee.
After it kicked off any doubts or despondency he, for the most part, kept to himself and successfully rallied the nation.
Perhaps you might try emulating him Theland cos I don’t mind your bible punching ,God bothering rhetoric but your LMF and doom mongering is giving me the pip. Man up why don’t you?
Retro - Man up? What on earth are you talking about?
Read again what you have written and see it for the total inaccuracy of it.
You are making up this claptrap.
Comparing yourself to 'Winnie' now, Theland? The only Churchill you resemble is the nodding dog in the insurance adverts. Only yo never say, "Oh yes." just "Oh no."
Ken - No.
You know very well I did not compare myself to Winnie, but that would have spoiled your opportunity to make a joke.
Another example of weak humour from a sad person.
Theland - // Winston Churchill was considered alarmist in the 1930's when he wante Britain to rearm.
He was surrounded by people who had their head in the sand. //
Showing that you have 20/20 hindsight is no skill - we can all do it.
Theland - // I get so much abuse but don't instigate it myself. //
You might want to refresh your view of yourself my reading over a few of your recent posts, look at what you say, and how you provoke the reactions you get, which are usually followed by your best Uriah Heep impression, before you start again another day.
