Canelled!
Just heard on the 6pm Radio 2 news that trick or treating, Diwali, bonfire night and Remembrance Sunday have all been cancelled in the north west of England due to Covid 19. Anyone able to elaborate on this, please?

(*) "In Eclogue 6 Gallus ascends Mount Helicon's literary landscape with the poet-shepherd Linus as his guide. Remarkably close in detail to Apollo's initiation of ..."

We are just planning Remembrance Sunday (E. Yorkshire) so, so far so good (lot of 'so's' there!). As a whole, the village is going to decorate houses with poppies etc. and the plan is to be out at 11 a.m. when someone will toll the church bell. Distancing is easy.
The church is trying hard to work out how to celebrate, pay respects carry the standard etc.. OH is the oldest surviving ex-serviceman, so he usually carries it to the War Memorial, which is in the church porch. We could do the whole thing outside and that should be OK.
I'm sure we can organise a tribute of sorts - but I'm exercising my brains as to how to organise some sort of collection to benefit the B.L. and Help4Heroes. Can't really just leave a box in the bus shelter (unused 'cos there is no bus, but a useful covered spot). Any ideas welcomed. At the mo. I'm thinking of placing people around the village with a donations box - but it's far from ideal - could be pouring down.
