What Has Happened to Hellfire ???? WHAT image does the word “hell” conjure up in your mind ???? The Jesuit journal La Civiltà Cattolica observed: “Hell exists, not as a place but as a state, a way of being of the person who suffers the pain of the deprivation of God Had the pope described hell . One of the doctrines that started my departure from fundamentalist, evangelical, christianity was this ridiculous notion of eternal torment.
The fact that certain groups (JW's, Seventh Day Adventists, Christadelphians etc,) reject it doesnt make the God of the Bible any less cruel to those of us that have read that evil tome.

One has only to read it as it is (disregarding doctrine) to see that the God it portrays is a psychopath worthy only of our condemnation and certainly not of our praise. The God of the Bible is a nutter.
Its a fruitcake.

Ive had 100's of dealings with JW's and they are ALL like robots!
Not a one has his own mind.

They cannot read/view anything that contradicts their organisation's recommended list.
I have accepted (many a time) their literature but they refuse to accept mine...

As regards the 'Hell' doctrine, I happen to think that they are right.
Nowhere in the NT is this sick doctrine supported. Its all a matter of translation from Hebrew/greek.
The God of the Bible is still a sadistic ass hole though!

Old_Geezer - It's a popular misconception that the drummer on this song is Carl Palmer - later of ELP.

In fact the song came out in 1967, and Palmer joined in 1968, replacing the fabulously named (and sadly deceased) Dracken Theaker.
