Strange though it may seem, I do have a life outside my office - I am not on the site every minute of every day.

If I see something or someone that contravenes Site Rules, I act appropriately, if I don't see it, I am unsure what you would expect me to do.

There is a Report facility for any AB'er to report something they think inappropriate that goes direct to the Ed and Team.

Moderation is not an exact science - what one Mod may think actionable, another may not.

If you want rigourous moderation, find a site where you have to pay subscription to post, and it wil have paid Moderators with regular shifts.

Then you will have reasonable grounds for moaning.

But here, Mods are unpaid, and your access is free - so either accept what is, or ...

I think the thread will eventually stop - probably quite soon.

The originator has no interest in responses, no-one has anything different to say from what they have said countless other times on other threads, so it will simply stop.+

The concept of 'derailment' is tricky to quantify -

Some threads naturally steer off the original OP as separate but linked discussions take place, but for me, the defintion of 'derailing' is when someone comes in and starts making personal attacks on another's posts or person, and that leads to retaliation, and then things do go south.

I see this thread stopping not through being closed because of deraiklment, but simpy stopping becuse no-one can be bothered to post on it.

There's no point trying to engage locusts - it's not how he rolls.
