Me (31M) and my wife (30M) are in a huge argument over why she called animal control on my brother (let’s call him Sal). My wife has never liked my Sal’s wife because she was cheating on my brother with our cousin. My wife kicked the girl out of our house when they were living with us. This is my first time here so I don’t know how this works. The couple used to live with us but my wife got mad over the girl not helping out with anything and that she would sleep all day. She doesn’t let our kids play with their kids because she doesn’t like the little boy who is the same age as our daughter. (6). My wife is a HUGE animal lover and has a cat and a dog who get on my nerves. They’re well fed and behave like angels but I don’t want them near me so I have to go to another room. Well, last week Sal got a puppy for his son and daughter, but the son killed the puppy by throwing her on the floor and kicking her. The boy was laughing when the puppy was crying. The mom did nothing so I got *** off because my wife called Animal control and told them everything. She says that no one should treat animals like that even if a person doesn’t like animals. Now Sal has CPS after them also because their house is not in good conditions and the boy who was sent to a psychiatrist a short time back, is probably going to a foster home because his mom never supervises them enough. I am *** off at my wife for reporting them because that is MY BROTHER and I’m considering divorcing her. I just told my entire family what happened and she is no longer welcome. I feel bad for my brother now who has to go to court and pay a ticket. The wife is in jail and I am fixing to pay her bond. I am really angry at my wife! Would anyone have any advice on how I should start the divorce process?

If it was a complete stranger and not your brother, would you still be angry with your wife, or would you feel she'd done the right thing?
I would've been more tempted to walk to their place and beat the crap out of them. You seem to be ignoring the fact that a defenceless animal was killed by your thug of a nephew. She is completely justified in reporting them, and I kind of think that she should be considering divorcing you if you can't see that.

She should definitely be worried for the safety of her own pets, just incase such behavior is in your family's blood.
I've been dwelling on this one, because I find it completely horrifying. First of all, it's your brother who shpuld be considering a divorce. What kind of person considers this to be acceptable behaviour? Secondly, your brother and step-sister have let their kids appallingly. She is not a fit mother, and either he is blind to that or just as unfit a parent as she is.

The kids need to be removed from her before they move from being little hellspawn, to full blown criminals. Now, I have no idea what "Sal" is like, so I can't pass judgement on him personally, but IMO the best thing he can do for his kids is remove them from the influence of their mother.

What the kid done isn't right, and you should be thanking your wife, not threatening to leave her. They (and quite possibly you) needed this wake up call, but it shouldn't have cost the life of a puppy to get it.
what an appalling story, quite frankly its your wife who should be suing you for divorce. I read through this twice and can't get over the fact that the boy killed the puppy, who does that kind of thing.
If this is true, what kind of man are you? You should be standing by your wife! She did the right thing.
Even if you don’t like animals it is never ok to torture an animal.
Grow a backbone stand by your wife tell your family you were in the wrong as was your brother and his family and hope to god your wife doesn’t sue you for a divorce
Emmie - //I read through this twice and can't get over the fact that the boy killed the puppy, who does that kind of thing.//

It's got future serial killer written all over it hasn't it?
Whoever does the suing I think you should split up. Your wife deserves better than a family like yours!
What a truly sickening story to wake up to,your wife was right what she did ,she should leave you and take your kids with her, your priorities are totally misguided !!!
You need to reevaluate your opinions.
If this is a 'joke' it is not funny and way off beam.
If it is real, you are still way off beam and need to stand up for your wife and support her.
Why is your sister in law in jail? Why are you paying her bond and not her husband? Why do you think it is normal for a 6-year-old to kill his puppy?

I would not be at all surprised if your wife has started divorce proceedings.
Yes, it can be weird in Soap Operaland.
If this is a true story then I am absolutely horrified and actually crying at the fact that this child kicked and killed a puppy.
10CS - I really.hope this is the product of a sick mind rather than reality.
I just can't believe this OP is true. We live in strange times.
Is this a script for a TV serial? US TV has lots of these.
A new show, "Swamp People". Place your order now.

No doubt we will see more of this on The Daily Wail.

Probably a sick and twisted wind up !!!
These posts always appear over the weekend and the OP seldom comes back to the thread.
I'm convinced it's a wind-up by a very juvenile individual. Too many holes in the story, no logic to to it. CPS...because their house isn't in a good condition?
Hope it is a sick wind up to be fair. If it isn't then the the wife did the right thing. Brothers family should never be allowed to have pets again. Poor pup!
Pasta, does CPS mean something different in America?
Doh...I didn't think to look at what it might be in America. It's Child Protection Services. I didn't check as I'd found the term Animal Control is used in the UK...I'd thought it was only American, so I assumed the poster was UK.
