Man I lost my job due to covid, had to rent out a room with no washing machine and I asked a friend of mine to help me move and he said hes hanging out at the beach instead of helping me out? Uhh What The Funicular?

Good grief! Again?
Society is not acting this way; your friend is.
Having a long good hot spell in your part of the world then, Dinkus69.
society doesn't operate this way, your "friend" does.
What the hell's the big deal about having no washing machine anyway. I've never owned one and never wanted to. I'm not so lazy that I can't be bothered to hand wash a few items (to be hung over the bath to dry). Everything else goes to the launderette, where I pay someone to wash it all for me.

Millions of people around the world live without washing machines. Making a fuss over such a small issue simply makes you sound like a spoiled brat.

While having a friend help you to move is obviously useful, automatically expecting that a friend will do so simply smacks of selfishness to me.

Get over it, pal. There are far more important things in life to worry about!
Well, somebody's got themself in a spin over such a little thing.
ask yourself
what would you rather be doing ?
Not really a friend.
I'd rather hang out at the beach than hang your washing Dinkus, get over it, spoilt brat!
Even if that’s what your friend would rather be doing am sure he could have worded it better, or at least thought up a better excuse!? Not someone I’d stay friends with tbh.
And Douglas - a fast spin?? ; )

Yeah, well, I guess an income needs to be made
Stop being a would-be troll and grow up.
Me or the op?

Asking for me;-)
You shoulda gone to the beach with your friend & moved house another day.
It's cold, wet and miserable in Canada this week - your friend is a bit odd wanting to hang out at the beach, unless he is in to watersports
Society doesn't operate 'this way' - just the teeny, tiny part that is your life.
