I think the love affair with "Auntie" is over for most people. Except those who syphon up our dosh by working there. They certainly still love themselves.

I am not sure if it is the Family themselves, or those appointed to protect their image.

In any event, the BBC has not covered itself with glory - again.

I think the problem I encountered when I used to freelance at the BBC is the same now as it was then - they live in an atmosphere where they believe they are so superior and untouchable, that they act accordingly, and that attitude will only increase until some robust accountability is put in place - commensurate with a broadcast that is publicly funded, but acts like an untouchable enclave.

The trouble is that people lap the stuff up and think its all true. The Crown is a drama, noone really knows what goes on in other households beit royal or you and me.

The Crown was fictionalised and not on the BBC. The Princes and the Press is a documentary. They don't seem to have specified what elements were "overblown and unfounded" and I suspect they're true but embarrassing. In which case, good for the BBC.

Some of us did not allow our young children to stay up late and record tv programmes without supervision. Different cultures have different attitudes to such things though perhaps.

they never dared to bad-mouth that nice Jenny Bond, but I imagine the boys are still seething over Martin Bashir. Rightly so, but it was some time ago.

The BBC has traditionally been a fawning and toadying commentator on the doings of the royals. If they're starting to be more objective, then good, but obviously they won't get the cooperation they've enjoyed thus far.
