New Energy Prices From April

Just had an email from my supplier saying that from April my duel fuel monthly payments will increase from £83.73 to £124.72. Ouch! And possible further increase from the fall out of Vlad the Impaler II's actions of terrorism.

How much will yours go up?

That's a big jump. I haven't heard from my suppliers yet, but I'm dreading it.

I don't know if mine will go up as I changed the tariff to fixed for 2 years about 3 months ago when my other Tariff came to an end.
Well I'm hoping it won't go up.

Doug, I pay that way, but they haven't sent me a gas bill for the past 2 months, only the electric.
Waste of time phoning them as I get nowhere with it.

Trying to make much sense of my monthly electricity payments has never been easy. (I pay my gas bill when it arrives each quarter). Although I've lived here for over thirty years, and have never changed supplier, British Gas never seems to have been able simply to estimate how much electricity I might use in a year and divide that by 12. They repeatedly charge enough to heat a large mansion for many months and then, when I've built up a lot of credit, knock my payments down to a ridiculously low figure. That figure remains unchanged for many months until their computer realises that I'm vastly under-paying and therefore starts charging me mega-bucks again!

For example, I was paying £225 per month for ages, which was far more than needed but at least it let me build up a healthy credit balance. When British Gas finally noticed that, they reduced my payments to £59 per month, which is far less than I need to spend on electricity. Assuming that they follow the same pattern as they have done for the past three decades, they'll keep letting me underpay until I've built up a big debt and then charge me massively again for many months in a row.

So separating out the big price hikes that everyone is facing from the usual peaks and troughs of my bills isn't going to be easy!

One things for sure though. Nobody's bills are going to be going down in the near future!

They always start these letters with self-congratulations, then tell you how much they care for their customers. It's the shareholders who will benefit with our hard earned dosh.

The full 54%. So about £45 increase. Can't afford it now, no chance when this comes in.

I received my notification of a price increase yesterday from the electric company. It said prices would increase by approx 50% but when I worked out the figures it turns out to be 60.4% increase for the standing charge. Hardfaced, robbing, devious, two-faced kn hypocrites.

I send my readings quarterly to British Gas, they email what I owe them and I pay on line. A couple of weeks ago they sent me an email saying do not worry about a price increase until my fixed tariff ends. When I checked on my account, my tariff only ends in September, so does this mean I can stop worrying until then?

Awful as prics area widfall tax on ur energy suppliers is a nonstandard as most are losing money due to price cap and lots have gone bust. Its the producers whose making profits but there overseas so hard to tax russia etc

I find your energy bills very confusing.
Down under, use electricity, gas, etc, for 3 months.
Then your meter is read.
The invoice is sent, 3 weeks to pay for your usage.
Simple, pay for what you have used, no more, no less.
No guess work.

Probably gets a bit colder here so heating bills rise enormously in the winter months. Some of us prefer to pay a set monthly amount throughout the year which is necessarily estimated.
