Harold Wilson said 'A week is a short time in politics', but with a new Prime Minister and a new monarch it's transpired that this past week has been a short time in the life of this nation.
I've no doubt that Charles will be a king dedicated to duty, but I have my doubts that he'll be a popular monarch. I think he's in for a rough ride and foresee big changes ahead. I feel quite sorry for him really. Any thoughts?
Charles is a very caring man and I think this will become apparent during his reign as King. He couldn't have a better Queen Consort than Camilla in my opinion.
Think Harry would be Henry IX.
I'd like to think Charles will be a popular king, but as the Queen reigned for so long, and is such a part of everyone's lives, it will be hard for him to get into peoples' lives and hearts. I think Camilla will be a big help.
He will be different.
Anyone expecting him to transform into the Queen will be sadly disappointed.
He is not into horses, so hopefully we can sever our relationship with the loathsome Saudi Royals.
Presently he's rather divisive with his comments & opinions into areas not normally addressed by the royal family; but a change of job may change that. Although it's pretty much academic anyway. In practical terms the sovereign is more or less there as facade these days. If he behaves himself then chances are there won't be a push for disbanding the system and consigning 'being subjects' of someone to history.
