When I was young His sacrifice meant Easter eggs; now it means hot cross buns.
Nothing, but thanks for asking.
Although there is no verified evidence that the crucifixion ever occurred, to me it means the most intriguing period in history. In my personal opinion I do think it happened, but I think Jesus was rescued from the cross and spent the remainder of his life abroad.
Just English people?
Some people commemorate the death of Jesus in extreme ways

As a Christian Easter is a time of sadness and joy for me. On a base level it means the end of Lent so I can have a cup of coffee (I gave up all caffeine, tea and coffee for Lent).
It reminds me of the purported torturous death of a healer, mystic, and political agitator. Like naomi24 I am of the opinion that a deal was bartered and Jesus made himself scarce. Probably abroad. Excuse my presumption naomi24 if I have misinterpreted your post on this subject.
As an atheist, it means absolutely nothing to me - except to provide a little more circumstantial evidence that the whole story is nought but a myth.
Every year, the birth of Christ is celebrated on 25th December, however full (or empty?) the moon is.
However, his death is acknowledged on a different date, almost each and every year;

2019; 19th April - 2020; 10th April - 2021; 2nd April
2022; 15th April - 2023; 7th April - 2024; 29th March
2025; 18th April - 2026; 3rd April - 2027; 26th March

Make yer minds up:-/
As usual, I have given up giving something up for Lent , for Lent and intend to continue thereafter.
Actually, i believe they got it correct in 2018 when Easter Sunday fell on April 1st.
Its all mumbo jumbo tosh anyway so... nothing.
Why do the churches need to be rich, flaunt it with all the gold and deco wear OTT irrelevant clothing when the people are starving and suffering anyway?

As always though, Locust asks a question and then dissappears from it.
David, you have it spot on.
They're certainly not living as Jesus loved.
Were there any religious founders who lived as rich lords or kings?
..as Jesus lived...
Ken, The date of the Jewish festival of Passover aligns with the first full moon in the Hebrew calendar month, which is why the date of Easter changes. The 'Last Supper' is thought to have been a celebration of Passover.
At my age, not a lot.
When I was younger it meant expensive chocolate in the form of eggs. Maybe pictures of Easter bunnies.
mjwman, Locust posted this question just over an hour ago. Give him a chance.
Spring is the most wonderful time of the year for me and Easter means awakening. It feels quite spiritual, but I hold no religious views.
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. jn 6 .44

there are a lot of opinions being expressed here.
didnt someone ( with the usual threats) say I must stick to the facts and make any opinions clear?

I think they did

Back to Jn 6 44 - I am the way and the life and thro me you will find life ever lasting
( cd be a fusion of two quotes)
explosive chocolate - bad sight day
