Research has shown that normal human cells are mortal, dividing only a finite number of times. After that, they stop dividing. It is a process that has been compared to an internal clock that controls when people age and die. Scientists are now working to reset this clock.
                                How Death Came to Be
Of course, people who have faith in the Bible have believed in the possibility of everlasting life for humans for millenniums. Their trust is not in human scientists but in the Master Scientist, who created all living things, MIGHTY God.

Psalm 104:24, 25, Human death thus came as a result of Adam’s rebellion and the subsequent judgment of God. Humans will not succeed in reversing that judgment. Though science has made many medical advances, the inspired words of Moses, written 3,500 years ago, still ring true: “In themselves the days of our years are seventy years; and if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; for it must quickly pass by, and away we fly.”—Psalm 90:10.

Probably just needs a complete cell replacement procedure every five decades or so.

Clearly language is deficient when it uses the same word to describe two different things, as confusion can easily occur. If life is what we have here, there needs to be a different word to cover the type of existence, if any, that would replace it in a spiritual plane. Whatever that might be it ain't life as experienced here.

Locust., Is it just a small misunderstanding , Misunderstandings about spiritual matters can be even more serious. For example, some people misunderstood Jesus’ teachings. (John 6:48-68) Instead of learning more, they rejected everything that Jesus taught. That you might misunderstand something that you have read? It happens to many people. Consider three common misunderstandings. Some people misunderstand the Bible command to “fear the true God.” They assume that a morbid dread of God is called for. (Ecclesiastes 12:13) But God does not want those who worship him to feel that way about him. He says: “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:10) To fear God simply means to feel awe and deep respect for him. Some take the Bible literally when it states that the heavens and the earth are “reserved for fire,” and they conclude that God will destroy this planet. (2 Peter 3:7) But God promises that he will never allow the literal earth to be destroyed. God “has established the earth on its foundations; it will not be moved from its place forever and ever.” (Psalm 104:5 Isaiah 45:18) It is this corrupt world system of things, not the literal planet, that will meet its permanent end, as if destroyed by fire. As for the heavens, when the word is meant literally, it may refer either to the sky, the starry universe, or God’s place of dwelling. None of these will be destroyed.

But God promises that he will never allow the literal earth to be destroyed. God “has established the earth on its foundations; it will not be moved from its place forever and ever.”     nonsence, when our sun burns out so will our planet

I just had a look at the ten commandments. I notice that the first four are all about god demanding respect and obedience. Rather odd; he comes across as a very 'needy' individual.

Mind you, I also notice that he seems not to object to homosexuality, so he's not all bad..

The point is that the priests who made up the bible in order that they could control the hoi-polloi didn't have the knowldge we have today, so were obviously unable to cover even such simple developments as the Internal Combustion Engine, let alone adcanced atomic science.  It's left to frauds such as locust to try to continue the myths in a twenty-first century context.

Locust, I think you've made a big mistake you need to check the Bible once again to collaborate with your explanation of homosexuality because the Bible is quite clear in what god did too Sodom and Go·morʹrah because of their sexual appetite he destroyed three cities because of their disobedience Genesis,18, 20,21,--- 19 ,,4,7 8,10
Before they could lie down to sleep, the men of the city—the men of Sodom from boy to old man, all of them—surrounded the house in one mob. 5 And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him: “Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we may have sex with them.”

Science should not bring everlasting life. If that were to happen, the world, our Earth, would be overloaded with people, all needing feeding, housing, etc. It would bring unbearable conditions, which would cause conflicts beyond measure. I do not want to die, but if that is ordained, then so be it. On the other hand, I do not want to live forever, and be constantly wondering where my next meal is coming from, or is my neighbour about to kill me because he wants my food store.

Bookbinder 17:27 Mon 04th Dec 2023, overloaded with people , I do not want to live forever, and be constantly wondering where my next meal is coming from,I would try to answer three of your questions which you have indicated, thank you for these questions because they are important to everyone who is trying to find out what may happen

Locust, First, a god who never lies, and his word Will come true, and the deserts will blossom, We say we are overpopulated now but is that really, so there's really think about it, what about all the deserts, which are around the earth like this Sahara, the Australian desert, the Arizona desert, and the North and South Pole, which are not inhabited Alaska not fully inhabited all, these places will be inhabited when God brings his new kingdom order into production. Isaiah 35: 1 -6, Psalms, 72,16

Mark 6, 38.

gerontologists are working on this, yes. If they could just find a way of stopping our genes getting bred with us and closing down once we're past  childrearing age, well, who knows

*bored* with us

Re Locust at 17.20

"Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we may have sex with them."

And what did Lot say? He said "You can have my daughters to do with as you choose. But don't hurt the men"!!!

Disgusting.

The ten commanments don't mention homosexuality.

//a god who never lies//

Yes he did.  He told Abraham to sacrifice his beloved son - and then, once Abraham had bound the boy and prepared to kill him, God's messenger popped up, told Abraham to stop  and said  God was only testing Abraham's faith.  Now, if his preferred reputation is to be believed, that God is omniscient - he knows everything even before it happens - so he knew he was going to let Abraham and his son off the hook - in which case he was lying in the beginning.  A wicked, evil trick played by a spiteful megalomaniac to boost his own ego.   Love him?  I don’t even like him.

Locust, when you come to think about it, man is so selfish, self-centred, to their creator, I know they think about their own self, not other people understanding ?,
After God made his promise, a whole year passed. Then, when Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 years old, they had a baby boy named Isaac. God had kept his promise!
How sad those words made Abraham, because Abraham loved his son very much. And remember, God had promised that Abraham’s children would live in the lan happen if Isaac were dead? Abraham did not understand, but still he obeyed God.
Trustworthy, Faithful, devoted to his god

(Genesis 22 12 Then he said  : Do not harm the boy, and do not do anything at all to him, for now I do know that you are (God-fearing) because you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me)
He, had a reason to put Abraham to the test, because Abraham's four father Adam and his mother Eve wilfully disobeyed god, and put God to the test, so god was looking to see is Abraham would fulfil, his promise to lead a nation, which became the Jewish nation

I know the story, locust.  That God was cruel.

it is a better read than some of the scipts above

Isnt it obious as it was to the Jews that this was metaphorical?

Those who believe in me will have life everlasting

well they died and so..... the meaning was spiritual.

Once we establish all the garbled lar-dee dah about cell culture need not detain us

Yes if you culture fibroblasts, they will eventually die. every now and then one or two become immortal and the best known are HeLa cells and BHK cells ( Baby Hamster Kidney)

It is ridiculous ( or er a non starter or non sequitur) to imply that if Ezechiel wondered - "can these dry bones have lived?" he did apparently. then that has something to say aboout the amount of Fetal Calf Serum you need to keep above cells alive....or eagle's medium

64. and no one shall come to me unless directed by the father

Peter ,Pedant 21:05 Thu 07th Dec 2023 they will eventually die

Locust, a very good scripture John, what can we learn, ?, A lot, But did, (we), notice the prophecies in this scripture, Each will be fulfilled in the future, time yes the time is close, and those scriptures will be fulfilled.
But when they had eaten their fill, ,john 6 ,10 .about 5,000 in number.

How would you answer, this scripture because we wouldn't eat or drink literal blood or flesh from a human ,?, John ,6:51

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever; and for a fact, the bread that I will give is my flesh in behalf of the life of the world.”

John 6 64 and these talking about those who would not believe,?Yes you see that there are non-believers even are in our day, but the light will not shine through to give them a spiritual enlightenment because they will not turn around and put themselves, out because of their own selfish ignorance, Yes, Jesus come to recognize one of his disciples would even betray him on the last days, because of his own selfish desires for money.

Who said life isn't everlasting? It continues seamlessly all around & within us.

Or do you mean ego?
