fear it on the streets and at work, In many countries, people fear violent political or social uprisings or even terrorism. These fears are reflected in the increased level of electronic surveillance evident in some lands, especially those that have been a target of terrorism. The disturbing effects of violence should make us reflect on ourselves—our ethics and our beliefs.

That God can deliver His people from violence is evident in the Old Testament. A well-known illustration of this is the children of Israel escaping the Egyptian army across the Red Sea. God's deliverance is to the uttermost, even giving us undisturbed believing despite adverse conditions present in the world.
Proverbs 1:33 "But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."
As we make delighting in God's Word our lifestyle, we may find life-long answers that we did not immediately notice due to unfamiliar vocabulary.
God's instructions to Paul regarding perils (danger) can give us insight into applying this truth in our lives today.
Peril (Middle English) danger, jeopardy, exposure to physical injury, death, or destruction
Paul prayed repeatedly for relief from the perils he listed in II Corinthians 11:24-27. God's answer, in essence, was that he should unwaveringly continue looking to Him.
II Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness [humility]. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
Like Paul, we can recognize "distresses for Christ's sake," disruptive influences intended to divert our attention from Christ. When faced with perils, may our true character show that we rely on God's strength and not our own. Most of the violence is caused by religion.

It's our nature to dominate and take from the weak. Spiritual evolution of our species may eventually occur, but not for very many centuries. Of course we have to want to evolve as well.

Take the jews and the Arabs, both semites, brothers, descended from Shem, a son of Noah. They agree on almost everything in their respective religions. Yet mortal enemies for no reason other than religious bigotry. Now look at what's happenning. Expunge all religious clap trap and we'll be a good way to a better world.
