Starmer To Clean Up Politics Once Labour Gets In To Power
Starmer recently said ‘We need to clean up politics...no more kickbacks for colleagues, no more revolving doors between government and companies they regulate...a total crackdown on cronyism’.
Starmer’s House of Commons register of interests shows that last year he personally received 18 free tickets to 6 premier league football games, 4 tickets to Capital Radio’s Jingle Bell ball, 4 tickets to a Coldplay concert (plus £937 in hotel stays paid for by Hut Group founder Matthew Mouldings), a private box for 4 at the Derby, and a £4,500 holiday in Wales (same old, same old).

Why do you think there is a register of interests?Ministers and MP's have all been favoured with gifts and perks.John Major had a private box at Lords where he entertained fellow cricket fans. It was gifted him and no doubt in the register of interests.
Retrocop - Your argument does not negate mine.
I know why there is a Register If Intetests.
That does not alter the simple reason why these gifts are given.
They are given in the clear expectation of being repaid with political favour and influence in favour of the giver.
To try and suggest anything else, such as simple goodwill, is beyond naive.
In case you are slow to grasp this; person A gives me a gift probably in the hope of something down the line: I say "thank you very much"and declare your interest so that any future consequence can be travel.
Or I accept it and say nothing and no one is any the wiser when the afters occur.
Or I refuse it.
I know which of the three I'd choose
No politician is going to be stupid enough to flag up that they are using their influence to justify gifts, that would make them look corrupt, and they are already good enough at doing that accidentally, without going out of their way to.do so.
That means that no, there is not going to be 'evidence', but let's not try and pretend that lack of evidence equates to lack of influence in return for gifts.

Please catalogue the parliamentary rules that have been contravened by the entrie in the register of interests.
Starmer would have questions to answer if he HADN'T put these gifts in the book so please tell what rules he has broken.
I have no liking for Labour and what it stands for but he has not done anything any other M.P. has done.
