Starmer - A Contender For The Olympics?
//Sir Keir Starmer has watered down promises to introduce a law giving MPs a vote before military intervention and to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia.
The Labour leader insisted on Sunday that there is “no inconsistency” between his previous promise to give the Commons a say before authorising action and his support for strikes against Houthis.
But his comments marked another change to his past pledges which will further raise concerns on the left and leave him open to Conservative accusations of “flip-flopping”.//

I thought there was already a law that such matters were voted on by parliament. I remember that opposition parties enthusiastically voted to send British troops to die in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Perhaps Sunak denied any debate and vote because he was scared of losing a vote, as most of his party enjoy voting against him.
Not really a flip-flop.
Four years ago his pledge was to Labour Party members, not to the UK public.
Contrast with Rishi's 5 pledges to the country when he became Prime Minister. At last count he has dismally failed on 4 of the pledges. His pledge to halve inflation is the only one that has been fulfilled, but that was done by the BoE not the Prime Minister.
