I remember Darren Brown using, or rather resurrecting this meme in a live stage show some years ago.

What was its origins, meanings, etc., and can we think of any other 'modern day' or even older order memes, fashions, trends, pranks, tricks, etc. ie Harlem Shake, twerking, flash mob, flossing, dabbing, etc.

All silly, but fun!
