I think they have some of the right policies, but I doubt they can get into power because of the way the government is formed in Germany.

The plight of the AfD are in fact an object lesson in what is wrong with proportional representation and Britain must stick to First Passed the Post elections.

How long will it take politicians to understand that their failure to address and understand the concerns of 'regular' citizens has driven them towards the welcoming arms of the fundamental right?

I think most people would prefer to have nothing to do with the majority of their proposed aims except there is a single issue which is reaching critical mass across Europe.

Politicians across the board, of every political leaning, need to join together to stand up for their citizens and curb the progress of those 'outside' things which threaten national security.

AfD will flourish, as will similar, organisations wherever people feel ignored. They are not the answer but they are an answer.

What do I think?  I think the term 'far right' is now specifically employed to demonise those who have valid reasons for objecting to uncontrolled immigration and more to the point, to creeping Islamification.  Such objections are not confined to people on the right of the political spectrum but come from across the board and that is why so-called far right groups are gaining momentum.  Europe is, I believe, swiftly approaching the point of no return - and that should concern everyone - immigrant and indigenous alike.

I have never voted UKIP or Reform but I, along with the majority of people I mix with feel there is no option but to vote Reform in any up and coming elections.

Lots of Germans must feel the same about the AFD.

I'd go along with the thought that due to the voting system there, it'd prove unlikely the AfD could get necessary legislation aims through any coalition compromise agreement. So, unless they get an outright win, (extremely unlikely), Germany aren't going to sort their issues any time soon.

Treat the public with disdain, two tiered justice and they will react in the end.  The right on Metropolitan liberal elites have a lot to answer for.

As for "far right", that seems to be a label used for anyone right of Marx.

and trying to cobble together an acceptable coalition can take weeks of wrangling, even has taken and wasted months.

I recently posted a list of countries that use some form of PR for the elections to their legislatures. Most on that list have stable, functioning governments.

In the UK we get a gov with an overwhelming majority that 20% of the electorate expressed support for.

It's not far right to have concern about the invasion and islamification of our nation. A lot of people that would be considered left wing have the same concerns. The worry is that the last 40 years of Trobbery has driven many to political places that they would not normally inhabit. As JTH says increasingly people are turning to more extremist politicians to get this issue sorted. make no mistake Europe is being invaded by hostiles. The sooner we wake up to it easier it will be to fix.
