Hiya guys, I have a problem with my internet. Basically, when i go on to Internet Explorer and i go to a website and then i click on a link, the window doesn't seem to pop up, like usually it would open up a new window and take me to a separate web page, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

When i click on my e-mail links it doesnt work either, and this is very important to me.

It's been occurring since we downloaded the new microsoft anti spyware update (the new version).

Please can anyone help me out and give me a solution to this annoying problem. Please help, much appreciated! Thanks!

I would say it is Windows Defender that is causing these problems.

Open up Defender, tools, software explorer.

Make sure the relevant programmes are allowed.

Hiya Ethel

I've done that and the relevant programmes are allowed, my bro just checked that and it still doesn't work.

Thanks anyway, much appreciated!!

Anymore suggestions? Thanks!

Remove Defender with Add/Remove programmes and see if that improves things.

That didn't work either, i hate this stupid problem! Anymore suggestions, thanks again!

If the window is asking for your browser link, browse to IExplorer.exe which is in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer

Click on that file and that should solve the problem.

Had the same problem a few days ago.

Hey Hammer Head,

I tried what you said and that didn't work either. Clicking on links still doesn't open up a new window/webpage on my IE. I think my problem has something to do with the Microsoft antispyware, the updated version. It's making this problem happen, that's what my brother said. But me not knowing much about the technical side of internet , Idon't really know.

Thanks though, anymore suggestion please. Thanks!
What OS are you using? If you are using Windows 7 then IE11 is the default one. Check your Windows Updates and uninstall it then go to the Microsoft website and download it and reinstall it. The should fix it but you can reset it in the Internet Options Advanced section but be careful as it warns you to only use this as a last resort.
