Paying Council Tax

It has come to light that my address is not regisitered with the council so have not paid council tax.What will happen when I contact the council for non payment for back pay. Will i go to court?

I wouldn't worry too much. If it was a genuine mistake on either party, they probably won't make too much fuss. It's not like you had a bill and didn't pay, you just didn't have a bill. On the other hand, you can't be expected to pay whatever arrears there might be in one go, so clarify with the council that arrears will have to be paid in instalments.
how long has this been for? You are in big trouble if its been since council tax was introduced, because you will have a lot of backpay .. however if its just this year you will be able to work out a payment plan with them - i had a similar situation where they just wernt taking my direct debit and i or they hadnt noticed - they tried to get me to pay it off in 3 months, but i asked for lobger. Dont put up with any crap - the girl on the helpline actually said to me "you have to have it paid off within 3 months ... but we can offer you a 4 month payment plan" so i just said to the if they can accept going over the 3 months, then they could take it back over a year
