625 killed in 2003 and 1,907 in 2004.
You have to be a bit careful about what you mean by Global terrorism. I think these figures include events like Beslan so refer to global terrorism as terrorism around the globe rather than terrorism that is global in scope scuch as Al Qaeda.
Your definition is critical - if you were to include a state's terrorism on it's own citizens you'd have to include Nazi Germany, Stalin's purges the cultural revolution in China.
Generally these are not considered terrorism although their purpose was to intimidate and spread terror for political purpose - seems to not count if the perpertrator is actually in power

World population is about 6 billion of course.

I'd agree with Bill. I live smack-dab in the middle of the United States - supposedly the furthest place away from terror. I can't board a plane without being searched, can't go to a concert or baseball game without going thru checkpoints and being searched - my tax dollars are being spent to pay soldiers - this morning in Omaha, Police, fire fighters, and other rescue personel are doing an exercise in case of attack -all to protect me from some ideaology - I can't help but wonder if the people we think are terrorists believe we are the terrorists.
