It's supposed to highlight everything you've mentioned above, and since Sascha Baron Cohen is Jewish I can't see there being a great hoo-haa to be honest at least from other Jews, unless of course the audience is too unsophisticated to get the joke. Then you might get a problem, but doesn't that actually make it funnier? I say this as a man with a Jewish wife who thinks Borat is the best thing since slicde bread.
Good answer nox. Isn't it about time people stopped being so politically correct? As a white guy with a mixed heritage partner (yes can't say anything else these days - even though she calls herself all sorts of other things) we find it increasingly more difficult to interact normally with our friends. They get pc rammed down their throats everywhere and are getting afraid to tell jokes or pass comments for fear of getting pulled up. It makes us feel uncomfortable and only highlights the differences.
I'm Jewish, and I know nox's wife is Jewish, he's taken a very common sense attitude, I'm waiting to see the film, and i'll make my mind up then, bearing in mind, moest Jewish jokes are told by Jews.
A cub reporter goes to a C of E church, and asks the Piest how much he takes out of the collection each week, for living expenses. He says 25%, and the rest goes to the church.
The reporter then goes to a Catholic church, and asks the Padre the same question, and he answers 50%, and the rest goes to the church.
Next on the list is a Synagogue, and the same question, the Rabbi says we put all the money on a platter, and throw it all up to God, what he gives back, we keep.
Its an old one, but still brings a smile on.
