London prostitute murders (1980s)

The recent serial killings of five prostitutes in Suffolk reminded me of the murders of two sex workers in London in the 1980s. The kinky killer stole their boots. The police had a suspect, but I believe the case is still unsolved. Does anyone remember the names of the victims and the date of the murders?

I've had an interest in true crime since I was 19 (I'm now 46), an interest I share with millions of other people. Well over a thousand books that have been published on the subject. There are also three monthly UK magazines on true crime.

Don't be sorry. it is just that I noticed 2 posts close together both about unsolved murders - using my obviously detective quality deductions, I deduced that you were of criminal intent - Ha! Miss Marple has nothing on me. Ha ha

I've just discovered that the victims I was thinking of are Marina Monti and Rachel Applethwaite, both murdered in London in January 1987. The police suspect was a 42-year-old Mexican diplomat.
